Promoting the Development of Intercultural Competence in Higher Education Through Intercultural Learning Interventions

Introduction. This article analyses the impact of an intercultural learning intervention in a Spanish university post-European Higher Education Area implementation. Objective. Our research’s main objective consisted measuring development competence first cohort Translation and Intercultural Communication bachelor’s degree university, before after taking specific courses studies spending study abroad semester. Methodology. A mixed methodology was implemented, which Development Inventory (IDI) used as instrument. Additionally, in-depth personal interviews were conducted to complement data obtained. Results. The results this show that programming sequencing courses, together with experiences abroad, contribute competence. Conclusions. More interventions are needed higher education develop build campus educate global citizens. When applying methodologies, students their competence, key for 21st-century graduates.
